KratonTM D polymers with very low viscosity allow for pavement construction with Highly Modified Asphalt. Increasing SBS polymer content above that of conventional modified asphalt produces a fully continuous polymer network in in the asphalt. Thus, HiMA is much tougher and deformation-resistant than conventional modified asphalt. The increased resistance to rutting and cracking can provide increased pavement service life as well as the option of thinner, more cost-effective pavement lifts.
